Benny's Vic Firth Drum Sticks are the result of endless tiny changes in the design process to get something that felt perfect in his hands.
Benny calls his design a "Frankenstein" of sorts. The small, shortened tear drop tips are dry on cymbals and very articulate on drums so you can hear every little note, but that kind of thing is normally reserved for lighter, thinner sticks. Instead, they're 5B in thickness to get some power and force in the sound.
The medium neck taper gives the stick strength to deal with lots of rim shots, with more response and rebound than you'd normally get because length has been taken from the tip.
They're made of hickory , the most popular drum stick material, prized for its strength and flexibility. They're coated in a paper thin layer of lacquer that smooths out the grains and feels great in the hands. |
