The handpan is an absolutely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody meet. Playing the handpan creates soothing, spherical and long-lasting soundscapes that completely captivate both the player and the listener. Neither previous experience nor knowledge of music theory is necessary, because all the tone fields on the handpan are on a fixed scale. With most models, it is not possible to strike dissonant notes, i.e. notes that sound "wrong". Therefore, you can follow your own intuition while playing and lose yourself in mysterious, dreamy melodies after only a short time. With a little practice, of course, more complicated rhythms, captivating chords and two-part melodies are also possible. A handpan is just as suitable as a solo instrument as it is for playing together with other handpans or other instruments such as tongue drums, guitar or percussion.
Our Journey Handpans are more compact and travel-friendly versions of our high-quality Majesty Handpans. They are also made from the highest quality stainless steel and are completely handmade and intricately tuned by some of the best handpan makers in the world. They sound even better than our popular Harmony Stainless Steel models. Stainless steel handpans have a much longer sustain than nitrided handpans and are therefore particularly suitable for slow, relaxing and meditative playing. At the same time, they are very easy to clean. Sela Journey Stainless Steel handpans have a shiny, bronze-coloured finish, which provides a very noble, high-quality and at the same time mysterious look. Each model in the Journey series also comes with a hand-knotted handpan rope. The decorative ribbon protects the edge of the handpan and also gives it an individual look.
The tuning F# Integral (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is a variation of the popular Kurd scale. The central note in the middle of the handpan is F#3, around which the notes C#4, D4, E4, F#4, G#4, A4, C#5 and D5 are arranged in a circle. Due to i |
